[LRUG] December Meeting... something different?

Hi all,

I've had this idea for the December meeting to do something a little bit
different. The few people I've harrangued in the pub with the idea seem to
not *hate* the idea, so I thought I'd suggest it to a wider audience (and
risk having to actually organise something for once).

I thought it might be fun to have a pub quiz. Themed around ruby somehow,
but not actually with questions about ruby. E.g. less 'What's a singleton
class?' more 'What's the capital city of Japan?' ... uh except perhaps
harder than that. Although there's some milage in questions about ruby
history or the ruby community if people would prefer a slightly stronger
ruby connection than 'ruby comes from japan' etc...

Hopefully, we'll even be able to come up with some prizes. If anyone has
good connections to companies with a penchant for giving out free-things to
user-groups speak up now, otherwise I can use this as an excuse to clear my
book shelves of some of the
great-really-and-not-at-all-something-I-bought-for-a-course-at-uni-but-didn't-realise-I-wouldn't-ever-need-it
books that I no longer have room for (for example: an almost mint copy of
'Mastering COBOL').

It's still a bit of a tiny wee baby of a plan, so everything's a bit vague
in my mind, but if people are interested there are a couple of months to
work out something good.

So, anyone think it'd be a fun diversion from the dull grey of a London
winter?
