Hallo everyone,

I've just signed up so I thought I'd introduce myself a little before
I start launching into begging for help. ;-)

I already know a few people on the list, which is nice, but for those
of you who don't know me, I'm a social software consultant and writer.
I've a column in Linux User about digital rights, and until recently I
was the ED for the Open Rights Group which I founded with a bunch of
other much cooler people 18 months ago.

Anyway, I'm trying really hard to learn Ruby on Rails from the Agile
Web Development with Rails book, which is going pretty well, all told.
I've got a teensy bit of programming in my background, but nowhere
near enough to just soak up RoR easily, so going is slow. Trouble is,
the application I decided to try and cut my teeth on is a new
supporter database for ORG, and it turns out that it's a wee bit
trickier than I had imagined.

Now, I have some splendidly wonderful people who've offered to help
out with advice about structure and strategy, but I could really do
with a couple of people whom I could hassle about actual coding, and
who would be willing to either code with me (i.e. tell me what to do)
or to do the coding themselves and include explanatory comments.

What had started as a sort of learning-project for me has turned into
something a bit more urgent - ORG really _really_ needs a new database
to manage our supporters, and so I can't really be left to fart about
in my own sweet time.

I realise that you all probably get offered lots of opportunities to
do pro bono work, but ORG is a really worthwhile cause. Would anyone
be interested in helping?

Cheers

Suw
