Hi all,

The details for the August meeting are available now:
http://lrug.org/meetings/2007/07/23/august-2007-meeting/

It's scheduled for Monday, August 13th in our usual SkillsMatter venue,
starting at 6:30, with the usual trip to The Crown Tavern afterwards.
The talks are as follows: Stephen Bartholomew is going to talk about his
StaticMatic gem for building static websites with haml, then Frederik Fix is
going to talk about all the fun and games you can get up to with ruby2ruby
and ParseTree, culminating in showing off a rails plugin for converting ruby
into javascript.

We've also got the BoF session at the No Fluff Just Stuff Exchange (
http://nfjs-exchange.com/lrug-bof) at the end of August. Not sure which day
of the Exchange it's going to be on yet, but we do know the time and the
speakers. It'll be 8:00-8:45 with one talk by Dj "Codepope" Walker Morgan
about Netbeans as a ruby IDE and then Laurie Young talking about JRuby and
why Java programmers should give it a look. As I understand it, it's free
to non-conference attendees, so if you are interested in either of these
topics you are more than welcome to come along.

Which brings me onto my next point: unfortunately, having agreed to do it,
I've since realised I won't actually be in London for it anymore, as I'll be
heading to a music festival. So we need someone to volunteer to act as
host. It'll be nothing strenuous; just turn up, say something about LRUG in
general (how often we meet, web page, mailing list, irc etc...) and then
introduce the two speakers and maybe field any questions at the end. It'd
be nice if a few other regular LRUG folk turned up too, to help with
questions and make folk think we are a nice friendly group. Any takers?

Cheers,

Muz
