Just to follow this up:

Of those suggested, the two I liked most were widgEditor and  
Sanskrit.  The others were all complicated with features I didn't need.

I chose widgEditor over Sanskrit simply because the client wants to  
be able to edit the HTML directly, and Sanskrit speaks Textile.
