Vahagn,

This doesn't directly answer your question, but may help finding a
solution. I've been making a few changes to a google_maps rails
plug-in at Github:

  http://github.com/chrislo/google_maps/tree/master

and am using it successfully to generate maps like the one you
describe. Perhaps this plug-in would be of use? If there's some
functionality you need that is missing, I'd be happy to try and help,
or better yet incorporate your patches.
