We've messed about a bit with Heroku (who provide a read-only file
system) and the issues we soon ran into were:

1) how to get sass to compile was not obvious

2) installing our search engine of choice was not possible (though
they recently announced that Websolr, a fork of acts_as_solr is going
to be supported, see http://docs-staging.heroku.com/full-text-indexing)
