Nature Publishing Group (NPG), the leading name in Science, Technology &
Medical (STM) publishing, has a vacancy within the New Product Development
for a Ruby developer.

The role will be responsible for developing and supporting web applications
ranging from classifieds boards such as naturejobs.com and natureevents.com
to academic applications such as www.connotea.org , precedings.nature.com ,
and network.nature.com

We mainly develop using Rails, and are looking for a candidate with strong
Rails experience, along with BDD experience. Technologies that we use
regularly include:

Backend:
Rails 2.3 / 3, Capistrano, Jruby, Redis, Cucumber, Rspec

Frontend:
HAML / SASS / Javascript with jQuery / Prototype

Database:
MySQL, MarkLogic (XML Database)

Misc:
Linux servers for deployment, Mac OS X for development

We are following a SCRUM process, and have been working to constantly
improve within the constraints of a small team working within a larger
organization. Any agile experience, a positive demeanor and a willingness to
work for change and bring your ideas to the table will be a big plus. You
will be working with some very talented developers in an environment where
good ideas, investigation, innovation, and doing things right are well
respected.
