Hi LRUG,

We are Addapps, a small start up company developing an exciting location based
iPhone app.

We require an experienced Ruby On Rails developer to help us further develop an
existing Ruby On Rails 3 application running on a Ubuntu Linux installation
with a MySQL database. There are approximately 10 tables and a similar number of
controllers. The client interface for this is a location based iPhone app
utilizing RESTFUL web services in the form of JSON which the RoR web server
outputs to the phone client. Experience with smartphones is helpful but is not
required

Optimize the RoR and database for fast querying and large numbers of users
Advice us on hosting companies and server configurations for large numbers of
users and transactions
Implement security on the server
Implement user sessions
Implement email on server so that we can send password confirmations etc
Implement location maths on the server
Help with configuring the server so it can send Apple push notifications to the
phone (badges, messages and alerts to phone when it is running in the background
or suspended)
Generally tidy up the server code to make it more maintainable going forward
Work with our lead developer on the general design of the overall system
Documentation and training of our lead developer to maintain the RoR going
forward

We are looking to employ a freelancer for approximately 3 weeks and this can be
full time or part time. Initially it will be office based but move to remote
working when the project is up and running.

If this project is of interest, please email me or give me a call.
