My experience is only based on working/hiring people in London, but I'd say that those averages (again picking London not UK as a whole) are on the low side and someone with your experience should be in the upper quartile of the salaries on the jobswatch website.

Sadly you will be on a chunk less as a premie than a contractor. Part of the reason is that as a permie the company has to pay national insurance contribution which is basically 12-14% of your salary. Sadly the price difference is usually more than this :(
