[LRUG] Where would you look for a job or next hire?

*  they're very US focused

That's exactly what I've found with Github & Stackoverflow, (plus you can't
advertise more than one job and my whole shtick is being able to offer
candidates a selection of the best the market has to offer)

Job Boards used by agency recruiters (CW, Jobsite, reed etc) are also
becoming more and more ineffectual for connecting with developers in
Candidate driven markets (Ruby/iOS/Python etc). I think this is because they
are associated with the recruiter world which dev's really don't need to
deal with anymore. Most of the work I do at the moment is through word of
mouth with minimal advertising.

good. You should talk to him if you're looking for Ruby work or staff"

"I was speaking to [Senior Ruby Developer] recently about a variety of
things and he mentioned your name. In fact he recommended you as a
recruiter. *Actually* recommended too, not as in "he's not as evil as the
rest", but as in "you really should speak to this guy first""

Hi Thayer

The problem I find with sites like GitHub and Stackoverflow is that they're
very US focused and I've never found many, if any, UK based Ruby devs on
there. That being said I will be interested to know how you find them. Also
you could look at the 37signals job board.

fashion, and I'm starting to *consider* advertising. I'm very wary of
it though, my personal ethos is the best folks come from
recommendations and head hunts. But hey, I'm up for giving it a try.

Also, if you've recruited yourself (as a direct company or agency) and
have any tips on which boards have good developers on, that'd be very
useful too.

I was thinking of starting with GitHub and StackOverflow. I'll report
back on how I get on if anyone would find it useful.
