[LRUG] Juniors

As soon as you hit 12 months decent experience you can go out and get
permanent onsite job offers in London without much trouble. However,
prior to that its difficult to get a job. There are a lot of junior
developers floating about in Limbo.

I can't speak for everyone but my experience is that while the boot
camps provide an excellent introduction to web development, the
developers they produce are often not immediately employable.

My advice to juniors who are trying to get their first foot on the first
rung on the ladder has always been get involved in some open source
projects, go code things for friends/family & local charities and
basically do anything to get experience. If that involves spending
Saturdays and Sundays working with a senior ruby developer hacking
together an MVP for an idea they've had, I personally would do it as
once you're on the Ladder, you're looking at...

Year 1: £25k
Year 2: £35k
Year 3: £50k - £400 /day
Year 4: £60-70k - £500 /day

I'm passing no moral judgement on whats right or wrong, I'm just talking
about how it works out practically.
