[LRUG] "Aw, Snap!" in chrome with better_errors

I wonder if any of LRUG have been experiencing this recently? It's been
happening for around about a week or two.

Inconsistent "Aw, Snap!" chrome error pages during development instead of
rendering the better_errors page.

In fact it does render the page OK (which has a 500 status BTW), then
chrome seems to jump in replacing all the awesome app debug info with
generic tips on network connectivity/anti-virus solutions etc.

My google fu has turned up nothing useful so far, so hoping someone has had
the same issue.
