[LRUG] blackgirl.tech is looking for funders

Hi LRUG!

My name is Lola and I'm the founder of blackgirl.tech, lots of you on here
have been super supportive of us and LRUG has been such a blessing. If you
don't know who we are there's more info on the site but essentially we are
a space for black women to explore and learn about technology. We've been
going for two years now and have done quite a bit but we're looking to ramp
things up in 2017.

We've teamed up with both Twitter and Moo to have monthly workshops for
black women and a host of masterclasses for industry professionals of all
races and genders, led by people at the top of their fields. We have
already gained positive reception from people in and outside of the
industry. blackgirl.tech has appeared on two BBC radio programs, The
Huffington Post and Buzzfeed. Black women who have attended our workshops
have found the experience to be “overwhelmingly positive” and have credited
blackgirl.tech to giving them the courage to “apply for and get a job” that
they previously thought was beyond them. This is down to the representation
that they see at our events; the power of seeing women who look like them,
doing or interested in similar things, is amazing. We want to be able to
continue to make more black women feel like they can break barriers and for
them to be comfortable in this industry.

Outside of our workshops, there are some other cool stuff we want to do but
we'll need help. We're looking to raise just under £30k for our work next
year, in the past we have been partly self-funded and have partly relied on
donations. For the next year we are looking for any individuals or
companies/organisations that will be happy to help fund blackgirl.tech and
enable us to continue providing great and interesting workshops for black
women interested in tech. If you, or someone/an organisation you know,
would be interested in financially sponsoring us, get in touch and we can
