Ruby on Rails Developer

Contract Rates - £300 - £475 (6 month contract)
Permanent Salary - £50,000 - £75,000
Location - London Bridge (No remote working)


This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Developer /
Ruby on Rails Developer to join a growing disruptive technology business in
developing a number of exciting, commercially available products in an
environment promoting internal progression and product innovation.

You will be joining an established development team of 6 who believe in
product innovation and utilising new technologies to benefit their product
development. The programming responsibility will initially focus on Ruby,
Ruby on Rails; however experience with other languages will be beneficial
as the company and products continue to evolve.

The development team is currently going through a period of consistent
growth, and this is expected to continue with big plans over the following
months.

The company are proud of their culture and actively encourage input from
all levels within the development team. So suggestions to improve
development processes, product features, beneficial advances in new
technology etc, will be encouraged. The company want to offer all employees
contract or permanent the opportunity to make a difference so if you
currently work in a big team and feel overlooked, or want to grow your
technical skill set, this is a great opportunity.

Key experience required;

   - Commercial development with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, 5years +
   - Experience with Linux and Windows platforms
   - Experience of Greenfield projects working the full development life
   cycle
   - Agile / SCRUM best practice, including TDD, BDD
   - Database experience with MySQL, MongoDB or similar
   - Excellent communicator, happy liaising with all levels of the business
   - A Software Engineering background is an advantage, a 'generalist' with
   a passion for Ruby development
   - JavaScript; NodeJS or similar experience is an advantage

The best candidates should have most of the following skills

   - Ruby on Rails
   - MySQL
   - JavaScript (ES5)
   - Angular 1
   - Elastic Search
   - Open Stack
   - RSpec
   - Puppet
   - HTML/CSS

While no particular industry experience is necessary the following would be
of interest:

   - Video capture/processing/playback
   - Private/hybrid cloud infrastructure
   - Salesforce.com <http://salesforce.com/> or similar CRM
   - SAP Business One or similar system
   - Federated auth
   - Market Research
