I am a Senior Engineer at The App Business <http://www.theappbusiness.com/>;

Our cross-functional team of engineers, designers, strategists, product
owners and agile specialists are always ready to tackle challenges; whether
it is rebuilding an essential weather services app with the Met Office

planning with the Go-Ahead Group

Our Team

Our mission within the App Services team is to pioneer the development of
middleware and backend logic that connects organisations, users and the
world around them.

At TAB, our backend engineers are:

   -

   Technology agnostic, polyglot engineers
   -

   Working on server and client side development, always using the optimal
   tool for the given project
   -

   Continuously solving complex programming problems in a clean and
   test-driven way
   -

   Living the DevOps culture and practicing infrastructure as code


Outside of client projects, you will be working on innovative projects
internally where recent projects include: experimenting with Alexa skills,
temperature sensors using Arduino and building conversational interfaces
(IoT and machine learning)!

My role evolved from being a pure Ruby Engineer to being exposed to Java,
.NET and Python and extending my knowledge of AWS, MS Azure and other PaaS
and IaaS platforms. Having immersed in a world of Agile, TDD, BDD, UX, CI,
CD, cloud, caching and scaling - every day is different here at TAB!

We believe that the app is dead, as we see user experiences unbundle into a
multitude of emerging platforms and touchpoints; all with their own take on
technology and developmental approach. Everything from a speaker in your
car, to a watch on your wrist and intelligent microservices in the cloud.
