Hi LRUGgers,

Just over 12 months ago I responded to the job ad below on the LRUG mailing
list and got the job. Since then we’ve been busy building our subscriber
e-commerce platform and starting trials of our returnable boxes and Zero
Waste products which has been going down really well -

When lockdown hit we had to alter our plans and open our own distribution
warehouse to cope with demand, just what you want to be doing during a
pandemic! A couple of months later we were safely running our own
operations and using our own warehouse management software to increase

Now that’s all up and running, we’ve just closed another crowdfunding round
<https://www.crowdcube.com/companies/good-club/pitches/bPBoRl> and are
looking to expand the team to help us accelerate the Zero Waste rollout.
We’re trialling with a closed group of customers at present who each get
their deliveries in reusable boxes that are returned to us, including any
filler / packaging for reuse. There are 8 trial products in our Zero Waste
catalog that are distributed in returnable containers that are cleaned and
reused. We plan to expand the trial and the range significantly in the
next few months.

The company has expanded from 4 to 18 staff in the last 12 months. The
product team consists of 2 backend developers (both experienced ruby devs),
a frontend developer and a product designer / product manager.

We’re looking for one permanent backend engineer and one permanent frontend
engineer to join the team and help us accelerate our plans to reduce
waste. Most of us are based in London but we’re all now working remotely
and plan to do so indefinitely so we’re open to candidates from anywhere.

We’re predominantly writing Elixir and using the Phoenix web framework.
Frontend is rendered on the server and we use TailwindCSS, Turbolinks and a
sprinkling of Stimulus. We store our data in Amazon RDS (Postgres) and
utilise Elastic Search Service for the product catalog search/filtering.

I’ve attached the two job specs which have more information about the
package, if you or anyone you know sounds like they would be a good fit
please get in touch.

PS. No recruiters, thank you.

We’ve found one great person already, but we're still on the hunt for a
really great full-time lead Ruby/Elixir engineer to join us at our south
London office (flexible and occasional remote working is on offer but it
will be mostly based in-house). We’re looking for someone who either has
experience in Elixir or fancies applying their Ruby skills to pick up a new

It’s going to be a really exciting 12 months working on a nice stack to
tackle some interesting problems, as we develop our e-commerce service and
prototype our returnable packaging system. It’s an opportunity to be part
of a team working on an innovative service to help tackle the plastic
pollution problem and make some positive impact on the world.

If any of this sounds like your bag, we’d love to chat. Pop an email over
