Hi LRUG
We are a small company working on specialist Rails apps for UK hospitals and seek a mid-level Ruby developer to help us expand. The work is essentially 100% remote with possible occasional meetings in London. The pay scale is £500-600 per day depending on experience. The initial contract would be for 6 months with possible extension or full-time hiring.
We have previously advertised for a permanent employee but we are happy to hire a contractor to help with several new projects.
Essential skills required:
At least 5 years Ruby on Rails experience
Excellent SQL skills + PostgreSQL experience
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a small team
Solid Javascript. The app is not Javascript-heavy, but experience required with Rails-style js using ujs/stimulus/turbo.
Experience managing Linux environments using the command line
Docker and docker-compose.
Azure or other cloud PaaS/IaaS deployment
git, Github actions, CI
Useful/desirable:
authoring gems
Rails engines
tailwindcss
Mirth Connect integration engine; HL7/HSCN
NHS/healthcare experience
Reasons to join us:
Our app has been in continuous development for over twenty years; it started as a Filemaker database and was ported to MySQL/PHP and now is an extremely powerful Rails app using a variety of modern frameworks and tools. You would be a full member of the team and gain unique experience in the NHS and related health care industries.
Please consider us if you like working on challenging and very worthwhile applications development. We are a good-natured, casual, and democratic group where good ideas and hard work are appreciated and rewarded.
Thanks to any who are interested and good luck to all!
