[LRUG] Action Cable scaling in practice

Hi all,

Does anyone here have any experience of running Action Cable in production and, if so, how many concurrent connections it can handle?

I see some references online to the stock setup only being able to handle 100s of connections and people preferring AnyCable (https://anycable.io/) to achieve 10,000s of connections instead.

(I'm trying to see if I can avoid re-inventing the wheel re having many clients holding long-lived connections open to a few servers so we can push near-real-time updates.)
