I was chatting to a senior developer at a startup the other night, who had moved here from Los Angeles. We didn't discuss numbers, but he mentioned that even though the equivalent dollar amount was higher, he worked out that he'd actually taken a 30% pay cut by moving to London, after accounting for the differing costs of living.<div>
