Hi Anthony,-<br><br>the incoherency of the recruiter's request aside, can you not actually code both? If so, why not apply and sort it out with the company itself? <br><br>This kind of incident used to irk me as well, now I've started dabbling heavily in front-end development because it is good for prototyping purposes. So I can actually understand where the companies are coming from.<br>
<br>It is annoying they don't understand that as a general rule you get less quality with more diversification of skill - however the Rails community has a strong culture of paying much attention to the look and feel of interfaces, which implies being front-end proficient. (I guess it's all that 37signals legacy). So in this particular case it might not be as bad as when they ask:<br>
