Hello chums,

First off, apologies for my first post being a job offer - I thought I'd
been on the list for years but I couldn't find details anywhere, so I've
resubscribed.

Anyway, one of our clients - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe - have a
number of vacancies for full-time, permanent server engineers, based in
Soho, London.

Working within the online technology group, the purpose of the position is
to enhance the operational effectiveness of Sony's online software. The
group collaborate with Sony Worldwide Studios game teams to create high
performance, scalable, highly available applications and services.

We're looking for people who are able to combine programming and systems
administration, and who can build tools themselves if a solution doesn't
already exist in the open source world. The environment is broadly agile in
its outlook, and any exposure to agile ways of working such as XP or Scrum
would be handy. Chef (http://opscode.com/chef) is at the heart of the
infrastructure, and we would expect engineers to be able to program
independently in Ruby, particularly with a test-first attitude. The server
environment is a mixture of Ubuntu and CentOS, and experience of managing
Java applications on Linux would be beneficial.

The salary range is 30-45K, and with several positions to fill, we're
interested in hearing from people with any level of experience, regardless
of whether you feel you might be over or under qualified.

If you're interested or would like some more information, please contact me
off list for a chat.

Thanks very much,

S.
