Future Content is looking for 1x backend Ruby On Rails developer to
join a busy, creative team based in Hoxton, London on a short term
contract [approx 1-2 months]
Future Content is a digital communications agency, specialising in
education / languages / comms. We build lots of innovative products,
from online casual games to Wordia.com - the video dictionary.
We're looking for an experienced (3 years +) Back End Developer to
join our team. You will be developing new functionality for our
RESTful API (which primarily controls game content), working on our
existing Rails architecture, and facilitating our other developers
(game and web programmers) by providing a consistent interface to the
backend data stores. In addition there will be the maintenance and
improvement of existing functionality within the Rails system, and its
interactions with external sites. e.g. encoding.com
This is (currently) a part-time position and would suit a freelancer
looking for a short-term contract. There's terrific scope and
opportunity for the right person.
Experience required:
• Ruby on Rails (v2/3)
• MySQL
• Git
• Familiarity with a UNIX environment
• Working with client-side developers on a commonly agreed spec
• Ability to multi-task and consistently hit deadlines
• Excellent visual and verbal communication skills
• Self motivated, enthusiastic and organised
• An online portfolio
We also use the following technologies, so any experience with these
would be helpful:
• Apache
• nginx
• Passenger
• Starling
• Workling
• Memcache
