Magnetic has just opened a development office in London (currently on Oxford Street) and we're looking for a senior engineer to join our web team.
Magnetic is an ad-tech company specialising in Search Retargeting (targeting adverts at users based on their recent search keywords history). We have our own real time bidding platform handling thousands of requests per second and targeting hundreds of millions of users. Our head office is based in New York, but following the recent acquisition of London-based retargeting specialists Cognitive Match we are expanding our development team to London and hope to create a cross-functional team of 10-12 engineers over the next 18 months.
Initially this role will involve working as a remote member of a NY-based scrum team, but as we grow the intention is that the London team will become increasingly independent.
The full job spec is below. Although our UI platform is written in Rails, commercial Rails experience is not strictly required. We're more interested in hiring good all-round engineers who believe in the principles of software craftsmanship.
If you're interested in applying or have any questions please email me directly: stephen at magnetic.com
Thanks,
Stephen Henderson (Engineering Manager, London)

Job Spec:
Magnetic's full stack web development team builds and runs our internal and client-facing web applications, which power our real-time advertising platform that handles hundreds of thousands of requests per second. On the web team, you will build an elegant and responsive user interface, powered by RESTful web services. If you believe that code should be clean and maintainable, that tests should be automated, fast, and written first, that database schemas should be clear and self-documenting, and that the user experience matters, we want to hear from you.
What you'll be doing:
* Working with product management to design new features that delight our users
* Integrating with third party RESTful APIs to maintain state with our partners
* Evangelizing best practices for web development within and between engineering teams
* Researching and implementing features using new technologies and frameworks
We’d like to talk to you if:
* You are a full stack web development expert, experienced in or open to learning Rails
* You have a passion for software craftsmanship and believe that testing is as important as coding
* You follow web development best practices, and enjoy helping others learn to do the same
* You are well-versed in (or run or contribute to) front-end open source projects
* You read Hacker News, A List Apart, or stay on top of emerging tools in some other way
What we offer in return:
* Full funding for any tech conference in which you are accepted as a speaker, and funding to go to tech conferences as an attendee
* A relaxed and comfortable work atmosphere
* A results-oriented startup mindset, with sane working hours and a stable business model
* Competitive salary and stock options
