[LRUG] What's the job environment like in London? [jobs]?

Hi Londoners,

I'll be moving to your wonderful city in September this year to study, and will be looking for part-time work to support myself while doing so.

How easy do you think it will be for me to land a part time job that would be willing to work around a student visa (20 hours max during term time - realistically 12) and around lectures and assignments and the various pulls of studying.

(basically: how desperate are employers for devs?).

I'm a specialist in front end dev, (love love love CoffeeScript and SASS), but I know the whole Ruby on Rails stack. As a bonus I have a graphic design degree (which mostly just means I can talk design to designers and care about typography).

I have experience with all the keywords: Ruby on Rails (5 years), Ruby off Rails, Postgres, Jekyll, Git, CoffeeScript, JavaScript (7 years), SASS, compass, CSS (8 years), LESS, Bootstrap, Agile/Scrum, dealing with tricky clients, and finding bugs in Chrome.

Doable?

Thanks for your time, and apologies if this isn't the place for such questions.

Daniel.
