You can use monit for those kind of things. We have our servers (either on
digital ocean or aws) using monit and if anything is misbehaving (sidekiq
workers are using too much memory, a service stopped listening, response
time for a process is too slow, someone is using a surprisingly high amount
of cpu...) it will be automatically taken care of and duly noted.

Combine it with munin to see graphics of resource usage and with a
provisioning tool (ansible in our case), and you will sleep much more
soundly.
