Hey All,
We're currently hunting for a pawsome Tech Lead and Rails Developer to join
the pack at BorrowMyDoggy, helping us bring 'Pawprints of Happiness' to
dogs and owners.
We're a development team of three (total pack is about 16 strong) who split
our time between the office and working remotely. Our technology stack
includes Rails 4.2, Ruby 2.2, RubyMotion, Postgis, Postgresql, Redis,
Memcache, and the usual extras.
Tech Lead
---------
For the Tech Lead role we're looking for an experienced developer, you'll
help the team improve, have the final word on technical decisions, and
introduce development processes to help the team prioritise and work more
efficiently.
You'll have helped build large scale applications multiple times before and
have experience being a team leader. If you've worked in a fast-growing
startup before, and they still love you, you might just be perfect.
It's important to know you'll actually be a developer, not a manager with a
day full of meetings, and you'll have an absowoofly amazing development
team reporting to you.
If you're interested, here's a few key things we're looking for:
- You've done this 'web thing' before, at scale, a few times, though maybe
not always in Rails.
- You understand what design patterns are, and can talk about them as both
ideas and concrete examples.
- You've had experience leading a team, maybe you're not a team lead at the
moment but you're the person everyone turns to with the difficult questions.

Rails Developer
---------------
For the Rails Developer we're looking for an experienced developer with a
few years of Rails experience, who understands software design, good coding
practices, and has opinions about how code should be written (and is
willing to adapt them).
You'll have worked on a large scale Rails app before, and understand how
core Rails fits together, you'll also know things like, what a presenter or
form model is, and maybe have experience dealing with the tradeoffs
involved with micro-services.
You'll be working as part of the development team reporting to the Tech
Lead and collaborating with the other developers, we don't pair programme
all the time but we do when it makes sense, so it's important you play well
with others.
If you're interested, here's a few key things we're looking for:
- You know you're way around Rails, and you have opinions on how to
maintain an application at scale.
- You're happy working in a team, debating how to solve a problem, and then
accepting the team decision.
- You like people and dogs enough to be mildly sociable – at least with the
dogs in the office :)
