Dearest LRUG,
I’m Ali and I run a small globally distributed web development consultancy
called Happy Bear Software. You pay us money and we full-stack program Ruby on
Rails web applications for you. We can also help you with requirements
gathering, support/maintenance, and security-focused training + code audits. We
have a bit of availability opening up soon and so it would be great to hear
about potential new projects to work on.
Clients we’ve worked with over the past year in various capacities that are
apparently satisfied with our work include Charlie, Cutover, VYPR, Calltracks,
Survival International, JRPass, and the Money Advice Service. We’re happy to
provide references on request.
If you’ve got a project or set of features planned out but don’t have a large
enough team to work on it internally then we can probably help. We also have
experience with refactoring, adding tests to existing codebases, and upgrading
Rails 2 => 3. Our aim in all projects is to make the codebases we work on
iteratively less bonkers over time[†].
If it sounds like you might be able to put us to good use then please get in
touch to discuss further at this address. I am also likely to be grumbling to
myself about something or other at the bar after the next LRUG on December 12th,
so can also catch up with you there
All the best,
P.S. Separate to new work, I’m always happy to meet people and talk. I
especially like talking about business strategy, web application security,
developer careers, and surviving the coming apocalypse. If you would like to
talk with me (or have me talk to your team) about any of those things then
please get in touch and we’ll put something in the calendar.
[†]: In the context of the scope, schedule, and budget constraints we’re
presented with of course.

I run a technical consultancy specialising in Ruby on Rails. Have a look atthis
one-page info sheet for a summary of the services we provide. We're always happy
to meet people building software, so if you think of anyone appropriate for us
we would appreciate being put in touch :-)
