Any rubyist's out there looking for a new contract position?



I have an initial 3 month contract position based in Watford, they are good with fully remote or part remote, or full time on site (depending on your preference).



The company is in a strong phase of growth and due to a new IT infrastructure and product suite they are looking to expand the team with a Contract Senior Backend Ruby on Rails Developer with experience in performance optimisation. They work in a collaborative Agile environment where you will be working with different departments to come up with the best possible solutions. Product ownership discipline is also being developed to create highly efficient product teams.



Their development approach is a continuous evolving one as they embrace new technologies and if it makes sense for the business then they use it. They always start with Open source tech and encourage community interaction. If they can add something to the community, they will.



Their new tech stack includes Ruby, Rails 5, React.js, Redis, Terraform, Ansible, Postgres. They are going to be using Action Cable and other new features in their products.

Being a developer there is always an opportunity to learn new skills, explore new tech and to mentor junior developers. Pair programming is encouraged.
The ideal candidate is interested in application performance optimisation. They need someone who is resourceful in getting things done — a productive team member that is both independent and collaborative and should be comfortable taking ownership of projects and building scalable solutions.

Doing self-driven research or asking the other individuals questions where they are most knowledgeable, their ideal teammate is constantly looking to learn something new and become better at what they do.

Responsibilities

  *   Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  *   Communicate effectively with stake holders and build relationships with users around the business
  *   Working with members of the business at all levels, to formulate technical solutions to meet business needs
  *   Producing good quality, well-structured code. Always thinking about performance
  *   Document technical architecture approaches
Requirements

  *   Deep knowledge of the Ruby programming language and the Rails framework

  *   Experience integrating with third-party APIs
  *   Expertise in database design and administration (PostgreSQL)
  *   Expertise with version control (Git)
  *   Expertise with testing (RSpec)
  *   Ability to work independently and self-manage
  *   Great written communication skills



This is an initial 3 month contract position (strong possibility of an extension) the day rate is between £450-520/day depending on experience.
