Thanks Murray!
Hello LRUG :)
So what I was thinking was 5 or so questions that I can answer for you -
you're welcome to write them to me direct, or on the group as a discussion.
If I get more than five then I'll pick whichever are easiest to
ans^R^R^R^R^R^R^R the most useful in my opinion, and if I can squeeze any
more in within time constraints I will. If one of yours gets picked and
you're happy to send me a brief video of you asking the question, I can
then do a reply and try and stitch it all together into a Q&A format talk
that lasts ~40 mins.
Things I often get asked to get you going:
* where do you find "good" candidates?
* how do I hire inclusively?
* what does a good interview process look like?
* how do I work with a recruiter?
* how do recruiters work?
* do I need to hire an internal recruiter?
* when should I hire a head of people?
* I'm a startup, how do I hire cost/time effectively?
You get the idea.
Of course, these are all HUGE questions and I could happily do a few talks
on each (if only I weren't so nervous of public speaking!) but I will
answer them in a succinct way to get you going on each, a sort of starter
pack of answers if you like to get you moving in the right direction.
You're welcome to chat to me on or off the list.
Also if you're a job seeker and have a question, let me know. It might be I
do a split talk, or do another one as a follow up in a month or so if
there's enough questions on that side.
Lastly, I am of course hiring for lots of lovely Ruby stack companies at
the moment (recruiting partner for SH:24, Skillerwhale and Unboxed who are
all hiring at the mo), so if you're in the mood for a move drop me a line
off list (thayer at team-prime.com) and I can chat you through the teams and
roles available.
Cheers,
Thayer
