Hi all,

Our next meeting is our ever popular lightning talks one. It’s on Monday
8th February, and as is the norm for remote we’ll open the zoom call at
around 6:20pm, mute you all and kick off the meeting properly at 6:30ish
and aim to be finished by 8pm. You can hang out on the zoom call after
that, if you’d like, to chat to any speakers and other attendees who are
also able to hang out.

Lined up already we have 3 talks:

* “The Path(name) of least resistance” by Fred Cheung
* “Uncovering some ruby magic in `awesome_print` by Mark Burns
* “Taking Rails Offline” by Mike Rogers

Slightly more details on each of these talks available at:
https://lrug.org/meetings/2021/february/

You’ll note that these 3 talks won’t take us anywhere close to 8pm even
with monumental “are you on mute?", "no you’ve shared the presenter mode”,
“stop streaming disney+ while you talk, your video’s really choppy" faff
between each one. So, that’s where you come in, we still have room for a
few more 10 minute talks to fill out the meeting. Some ideas if you’re
stumped: “whistle stop tour of rails 6.1 new features” or “what’s new in
ruby 3” or “10 minutes all about that one exciting api method in active
record 6.1”, or any other 10 minutes of ruby you’d like to share. Email
talks at lrug.org if you have something and we’ll help you get it into shape.

To attend you need to:

1. Read the code of conduct at http://readme.lrug.org/#code-of-conduct
2. Register at
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lrug-february-2021-tickets-138172929953 (spots
on zoom are limited by our budget)
3. Remind yourself about the event via your own calendar
4. ‘Rrive in zoom at 6:20pm on Monday 8th ready to have a fun ruby time

Cheers,

Murray & the rest of the LRUG organising team
